Poetry is magic. Most of have read William Shakespeare and Rabindranath Tagore in schools. Ever wondered how to write poems?
With modern internet and video games poetry has gone marginal just like video games. There were times when poetry was on mainstream. The reason why it has gone marginal is people who understand is few and I am sorry to say it is dying art. Also there is not a lot of money in it. But writing poems as a hobby with a side by side profession fits together and it is realistic. Robert Frost was a farmer along other poets who had other profession.
Some of the stunning figures of poetry writing are Homer, William Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe. There used to days when poetry had a therapeutic value as Greek God Apollo saw it. Most of the changes and revolutions happened due to poets. Even revolution of 2046 B.S in Nepal happened due to poets.
A person once told me poetry is like diamond you show it for a while and keep in your pocket else its value will decrease. I started writing poems seriously when I was 19. Lyrics of Bob Dylan, poems of Laxmi Prasad Devkota, along with myths of Hercules, Sinbad the Sailor were my early teachers. I published my first book in U.S.A when I was twenty. I have written 8 books so far with more than 600 poems. I will teach you my way how to write free verse poems.
Most poems start with title. Choose a title as first.
Write your content. If you are a beginner then write about something touchy such as love or friendship.
Include some supernatural theme such as the sun, the moon, and the seas in your poems.
Use symbolism and metaphors. A metaphor is something like the setting sun looked like a red rose or flowers are like creator’s poems.
Choose sensory themes. Sensory themes are something as how five senses perceive reality. For example the constellations look like an eye.
Use rhyming words such as deep- keep, keep- sleep etc
Now you have a title and a content. This is your pottery now add some colors and shine thus polish, polish, and polish. Make sure the grammar is correct.
Share your work.
This is the main idea how to write poems. Writing gets interesting and better with practice and time. Use this formula to draft your first poem and it will work.
