Mars has been a considerable planet for human habitation. It has much similarity to Earth but water is most for habitation. The ESA- Roscosmos ExoMars Trace Gas Orbibet has spotted significant amount of water at the heart of Mars’ dramatic canyon system, Valles Marineris. It is found is uppermost meter of Mars’ soil. Water is known to exist in Mars, most is found in planet’s cold Polar Regions as ice.

It was revealed an area with unusually large amount of hydrogen in the colossal Valles Marineris canyon system : assuming the hydrogen we see in bound into water molecules as much as 40% of the near surface material in this region appears to be water. The area with water is about size of Netherlands and overlaps with the deep valleys of Candor Chaos, part of the canyon system considered promising in our hunt for water on Mars.

The central part of Valles Marineris is packed full of water- far more water than was expected. The area is much like Earth’s permafrost regions, where water ice permanently persists under dry soil because of low temperatures. Water ice usually evaporates in this region of Mars due to temperature and pressure conditions near the equator.

This finding makes promising target for future human exploration mission to the planet. The largest canyon in the Solar System, Valles Marineris is Mars’s most dramatic landscape. It helps t to understand that happened to Mars’s once abundant water and helps to search for habitable environment. Another question arises was there life once on Mars and is Mars suitable for human habitation?
