War most be avoided but at sometimes it is necessary. There are many soldiers and generals who fought for good and perished for the good. May be this world is some planet’s heaven and the war leaders maintain it from time to time. History is full for war may be it was in some ages before like Mahabharata or it was during the times of Abram Lincoln. The Great War leaders are jewels of mankind and below are list of top five greatest military leaders of all time.

 

Sun Tzu

Sun Tzu was Chinese military strategist, philosopher and writer who lived during the period of Eastern Zhou period.  You may recognize himself as author of “Art of War.”   The author of “Art of War” is a master piece when it comes to business and politics. His strategies and book has affected both eastern and western philosophy and military thinking. He fought to control that vast expanse of fertile territory in eastern china.

 

Winston Churchill

Winston Churchill was a British statesman, orator and author who served as prime minister from (1940- 45, 1951-55). He rallied the British people during World War II and led his country from the brink of defeat to victory. He was a lonely figure until his response brought him to leadership of national coalition in 1940.   With Franklin D. Roosevelt and Joseph Stalin he shaped the Allied Strategy of World War II. His speech “We shall fight on the Beaches” remains as one of the greatest military speeches of all time.

 

Julius Caesar

Julius Caesar was a Roman general and statesman. He played a critical role in the events to the demise of Roman Republic and rise of Roman Empire. With frequent support of Cicero Caesar rose to become one of the most powerful politicians in Roman republic through a string of military victories in the Gallic Wars. After assuming control of government Caesar began a social and government reforms including creation of Julian calendar.  He was accomplished author and historian whose life is known from his own accounts of military campaign. He has  frequently appeared in literary and artistic works ,and his political philosophy, known as  Caesarism has inspired politicians into the modern era.

 

Napoleon Bonaparte

Napoleon Bonaparte was a French military commander and political leader who rose to prominence during French revolutions and successful campaigns during revolutionary wars. His political and cultural legacy continues this day as highly celebrated and controversial leader. As one of the greatest commander in history his wars and campaign are studied by militaries by all over the world. His campaigns known as Napoleonic war was a series of conflict fought between First French Empire under Napoleon and array of European coalitions.

 

Alexander the Great

As the name suggests Alexander the Great is considered as greatest military leader who has ever lived. He was king of ancient Greek kingdom of Macedonia. He became king at the age of 20 and by the age of 30 he had created largest empire in history stretching from Greece to Northwestern Asia.  His campaign of conquests from Greece spanned across Anatolia, Syria, Phoenicia, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia, Afghanistan, and India. He extended the boundaries of his Macedonian Empire as far east as the city of Taxila in modern-day Pakistan. He was undefeated in battle and is widely considered as history’s greatest and most successful leaders.
